GDPR and your privacy

Whoever thought that a skincare, wellbeing and beauty clinic would be blogging about GDPR and data privacy!?! Well, clearly, the European Union thought it would be a good idea as they have been the driving force behind some new legislation coming in to force on the 25th May 2018.

Cookies
Like nearly every website on the internet, our site uses cookies to aid in navigation and remember if you are a returning visitor etc. All modern website use this feature to make them user friendly and to measure interest in the pages and blog posts we write. For example, if we write a post about why its important to use a physical sunscreen everyday regardless of the weather it is helpful for us to know how many people read and comment on it. If you read a post, our website records that someone (not you in particular) read it and if you add a comment, the website will set a cookie on your PC with your name and email address so you don’t have to enter it again if you come back to leave another comment… less typing for everyone.

Privacy
If you decide to book a treatment using our online booking facility, we ask you for some Personal Identifiable Information (PII) so you can complete the booking. PII such as your name, email address and phone number are securely stored to enable the website to add the booking into our diary and send you a confirmation email that the booking was successful. We do not have access to your credit card details, our 3rd party payment processor handle all of that security for us.

GDPR – Consent and Transparency
On the whole, we think that the new rules which are coming in to force are a good thing. Like most of you, we use lots of websites each day and you will have probably noticed Facebook, Twitter and the other big social media sites have updated their Terms and Conditions recently so that they comply with the GDPR regulations.

We have done the same with our Cookie Policy and, in the interests of transparency, we have created and published our Privacy Policy. If either of these change in the future, we will post another notice here on the site. In the meantime, we think we can all carry on using the internet as normal but with added protection and transparency thanks to GDPR.

Thanks for reading and we can all get back to looking and feeling good inside and out!
